At last, a LoRaWAN box that is simple to use. An outdoor gateway with a local LoRaWAN server costs over €300 on the market: Awaro Pro does it for €189 — and the Lowtech version starts at €108.
Features
Thousands of LoRaWAN sensors, right at home
No network engineering degree required: Awaro handles the radio, the security and the decoding. You just watch your readings arrive — at home, not in someone's cloud.
Built-in server — or your servers
Your choice: the embedded LoRaWAN server — up to 128 sensors, nothing to install, no ChirpStack, no TTN — forwarding to your external servers (up to 2 simultaneously), or both at once, in hybrid mode.
Simplified decoding
A built-in assistant turns frames into readable measurements: pick your sensor model and the payload comes out decoded. Dragino decoders included, custom decoders possible.
Two versions, one core
Lowtech, simple and affordable (USB), built for home automation. Industrial Pro IP67, −40/+85 °C, waterproof M8 connector, made to live outside. Same software, same updates, in both.
Optional 4G (Pro)
No internet on site? On the Pro version, the 4G modem fits right inside the enclosure, with a built-in sensor filter to spare your data plan.
Repairable, no forced end-of-life
Replaceable radio module on a board trimmed down to the essentials (processor and radio), published hardware schematics, free updates. Built to outlive its maker.
In practice
Set up in your browser, in 8 minutes
No app to install, no account to create: the box spawns its own WiFi at first
power-up, then answers on its local address awaro-XXXXXX.local —
the rest happens in your browser, in English and French.
Configuration. WiFi, external or local server, gateway ID generated in one click. Advanced settings (802.1X enterprise WiFi, frequency plan) sit folded just below.
The built-in server. Register a sensor (DevEUI, JoinEUI, AppKey) and it joins the box within seconds. Decrypted frames, downlinks, decoders, MQTT and webhook integrations — it's all there.
